What can a Stock Scanner do for you?

There is lots of stuff going on behind the scenes at Trade-Ideas. As we work to bring the latest innovations in trading and investing to market we really want to hear from our users. Here is the bottom line. We have lots of alerts and filters to choose from. Basically, when you configure the Trade Ideas stock scanner, you can slice the market up in almost any way that you can imagine. That said, we know there are great ideas out there and we would love to incorporate them if possible. Here is a small example of some features that are coming soon to a Trade-Ideas stock scanner near you.

1) MACD's on multiple time frames
2) Stochastics on multiple time frames
3) RSI on more time frames
4) Top lists

All of the above is already in the works and being tested. Tell us what you want. Post a comment on the blog or send an email to

We are serious about getting more of our customers involved in contributing to the feature set!

It would be great to see a cup and handle type alert!

Got 'em! We call them false gap retracements but they are cup and handle by another name. Take a look.

If you guys could have longer term and short term trendline breakouts that would be awesome. I have not seen that anywhere and it would be great to catch big moves!! I love you product been a customer for years

Good suggestion. But there are plenty of ways to do that now in TI. 1 way to do a LT Trendline Breakout: Set Min Position in 20-day Range to 47% and Max Position to 53%, then set such alerts as Running Up or Crossed Daily Highs Resistance. Many variations possible on this theme. Thanks!

One thing that would really help me is to be able to combine alerts. I would like to see as a example a new high, followed by consolidation, followed by a running down, in that order and only after the last thing happened I want to be alerted. I would like to combine and any number or these and be able to specify time in between. I would also need to still be able to use all the regular filters. I know this sounds like a lot probably but I think it will make your software a lot better. You guys are the best!

For the oddsmaker it would be great if you could add functionality to report what symbols on what days make the results shown in summary, or alternatively which symbols on what days account for what amount of P/L the oddmaker reports.

It would also be great if when using the oddsmaker I could select worst case scenario for the output, and get the potential results for if I got the worst fills possible if you know what I mean.

I also agree with what 3strikes mentioned, being able to create scenarios with a couple of alerts would be would be incredible actually.

@anonymous - the Odds Maker add-on from StockTickr gets you that per trade information. It provides charts for each trade and a lot of other metrics.

Here's my suggestions for Trade-Ideas:

Add some overall market filters such as TICK, TRIN, Advance/Decline, etc. These factors can make big differences in strategies.

To add on to what 3strikes said, not only would it be nice to combine alerts, but strategies. For example, only alert in strategy A if alerts have occurred in strategy B. Strategy B might only be looking at some behavior in QQQQ or SPY for example.

Great comments. Items like the cascading alerts and multi-strategy windows are currently in the works. The others are very good suggestions. Thanks and HT to dave for the StockTickr reminder - great service.

If there is a way to enable long only strats only if s&p net positive for the day and viceversa I guess we have market filtering done at 5min/15/60 min basis..
